"Before working with Jonny I found it impossible to break free from the 'clean-eating' mindset.
I felt as if I was unable to eat meals with my family at home or eat out at social events from the fear of breaking the clean eating and not being able to achieve my goals.
After working with Jonny I developed better-balanced eating and lifestyle. "Before working with Jonny, I wanted to lose body fat while also maintaining strength & progressing in my workouts. I had been training consistently but felt that my nutrition was letting me down, as I was not seeing the results that I wanted too.
I signed up knowing that I wanted to give it 100% & loved every aspect of working together. My mindset around food completely changed & layering weekly habits allowed me to make tiny life changes.
My mindset towards food has completely changed. Friends & Family have asked what am I "allowed to eat" / "is brown bread better than white bread" etc etc. But for me the challenge has taught me not to think like that. I now ensure I "mindful" eat. I don't restrict any foods (so don't binge) but am aware of what the calorie content is of something. I have been able to eat out over the last 4 months without feeling guilty; instead, I just manage my calories that day/week.
I have lost 5kg but more importantly my body shape has completely changed (8cm off my waist, 9cm off my stomach, 6cm off my hips!). My training has massively improved (managed 3 pull-ups ... first time ever getting a pull-up!!), PB'd by squat at the end of January & even though I did not PB my deadlift - I have actually increased strength even when losing weight! I also survived my first CrossFit Open in Oct'19 when on my first deficit!
If you want to make a change, you have to take a step to change! Throughout our whole life we are supported by various people (e.g. teachers / managers / personal trainers / counsellors etc) to help us be better humans & this is how I would describe working with a nutrition coach. Jonny has helped me be accountable & has supported me fully in the last 4 months. Genuinely can't thank him enough - it's great to have someone supportive on my side!

It is not exaggerating to say that he has helped me change my life.
"The biggest challenge that I had before working with Jonny was maintaining a stable weight - or to be more precise - maintaining my weight after having lost weight on a diet!
I had struggled with my weight through all of my adult life. I started dieting and calorie counting on and off during my teens and twenties. I had very low self-esteem and a poor body image. I mainly bought clothes just to cover up and spent a lot of time feeling like a failure. Looking back, I can see that I really didn’t have that much to worry about at that time.
During my 30s and certainly the latter half, I started putting on weight in earnest. This was despite going on various diets, sometimes with friends - doing weekly weigh-ins and things like that. By the time I got to my 40th Birthday, I was very heavy. I was working very hard establishing a business, I pretty much gave up on trying to cook sensible meals and things really went from bad to worse. I was about 4.5 - 5 stone heavier than I am now.
I was feeling very crappy about myself, my habits, my body, I didn’t enjoy shopping for clothes or going out and my life was pretty much work, the family and eating and drinking. I bought large baggy clothes to cover myself up and I hated having my picture taken.
It was the January after my 40th birthday that I joined WeightWatchers with a friend. I was very successful and over the year I lost about 4.5 stone. The problem was that as my weight reduced the number of ‘points’ I could eat also reduced and I would get incredibly hungry. As the novelty wore off and things got harder, I started practically starving for the 2 or 3 days before ‘weigh-day’ then having a total binge immediately after weighing in, followed by a couple of days of eating too much.
I really wasn’t learning anything about changing my habits or about being consistent. However, I was determined not to put the weight back on.
Unfortunately, I did, in fact, put the weight back on, this was not helped by a tragic bereavement but of course, the bottom line was that I turned to food and drink for comfort because that is what I had always done. So 7 years after WeightWatchers, I found myself pretty much back where I had started and felt even more like a failure.
A couple of years later I started working with Jonny and gradually I began to believe that it was possible for me to eat whatever I wanted and not pile on loads of weight. That is to say that I started to learn how to enjoy smaller portions of the foods that I love, to eat slowly and savour things.
I had always believed that the only way for me to lose weight and indeed to then maintain my weight, was to track everything religiously. I was scared that if I didn’t track my food then I would be out of control and the weight would just pile back on - I had convinced myself that I basically had no self-control where certain foods were concerned.
Slowly but surely I learned that if I really wanted something I could have it. That I could learn to balance out highs and lows in terms of calories, just by using common sense. That actually a small portion of chocolate, eaten slowly and truly enjoyed, is better than a family size bar.
I learned new habits that I have maintained and I employ now with ease. I have taken on a new identity now. I am a fit, healthy person who eats well and goes to the gym regularly.
I have been on cruises and been to family weddings, all of which I have enjoyed fully. I have eaten and drunk without feeling deprived.
One of the best things for me has been going shopping for clothes and actually choosing things that I like rather than settling for things that fit and cover me up! I have so enjoyed dressing up and going out and getting compliments from family and friends. Dancing on nearly empty dance floors on cruises without feeling embarrassed - all these things I wish I hadn’t waited till my 50s to do.
I would heartily recommend Jonny to anyone. It is not exaggerating to say that he has helped me change my life."
